Our property is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however I have checked with the planners and have been told;

'You would not require planning permission to install solar panels on the roof of your property, provided the installation adheres to the appropriate planning regulations.

That is:
- the solar PV thermal equipment would not protrude more than 200 mm beyond the plane of the roof slope when measured from the perpendicular with the external surface of the roof slope and
-  the highest part of the solar PV or solar thermal equipment would not be higher than the highest part of the roof (excluding any chimney).

Although your property is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this does not remove your permitted development rights with regard to installing the solar panels on the roof of your property.'

The property is a 1970's bungalow, the roof in question is to the right in this photo.
